A. Evaluation sessions will be held by age group: 

7&8 yr olds:
Saturday June 1st: 3:30 to 5:30 @McConnell Park
Friday June 7th: 5pm to 7pm @McConnell Park
 
9&10 yr olds
Friday May 31st: 5pm to 7pm @McConnell Park
Saturday June 8th: 4:30 to 6:30 @McConnell Park
 
11&12 yr olds
Saturday June 1st: 1:30 to 3:30 @McConnell Park
Saturday June 8th: 2:30 to 4:30 @McConnell Park

B. To be eligible for Summer baseball:

1) Parents must sign their kids up simply by emailing   the name of the player, and their age as of 4/30/2013.  The number of teams that we enter at each age level is contingent upon demand.  Uniforms need to be ordered ASAP, and coaches need to be lined up, so anyone not signed up by May 29th will not be eligible for summer baseball.  The number of teams we offer this summer will be based on the signup numbers as of that date.
 
2) Players MUST attend AT LEAST one of the two evaluation sessions for their age group, though preferably both.
 
3) Players MUST attend a minimum of 8 of the 12 regular season games if in the Minors division, OR 9 out of the 14 regular season games if playing in the Majors division. (Waivers will only be granted for a long-term contiguous injury, pending approval of the Board).  
 
4) Parents must be able to submit 3 separate proofs of residency within Dorchester (these will be collected at a date to be determined by each coach).

Summer travel teams will be selected using the following process and criteria: 
 

• Teams will be selected by ballot. 
• Each member of the 5 person SHLL Competition Committee (no parents) will cast a ballot per age group, as well as as any SHLL coach who attends BOTH evaluation sessions per age group.
• Coaches will heavily consider player performance during the regular season in addition to the 2 evaluation sessions.  Team score books will be collected and stats for each registered player will be compiled and given to competition committee members and coaches participating in the selection process.
• Each ballot will have players ranked in order.  The top 9 highest ranked players for each age group will automatically be placed on the A all-star team.  The coach of that A all-star team will have their choice for the final 3 players to round out the 12 man roster.  If there is a B team, the remaining highest 9 players will automatically be placed on the B all-star team, with the head coach of the B team having the final choice for the last 3 spots on the team.
• This process results in one of the most, if not THE most transparent and fair selection processes to be found among any local travel team.

Composite bats, a type of bat in which the handle and barrel of the bat are comprised of a composite or Fiberglass-like material, are now banned and cannot be used in Little League games at the Majors, Minors, or Tee Ball level.
